masterplanning workshop: NUS, Singapore
Workshop with landscape architecture students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) as part of their design studio.
The students worked on a master plan east of Jakarta, Indonesia, to underline the important role of landscape architecture in the integration of existing, fragile landscapes and the socio-economic challenges of future urban development through forward-looking approaches.
This project was a very good opportunity to underline the role of environmental education in urban planning. During my presentation I gave insights into how differently nature and urban green spaces are perceived by adults and children. I motivated critical thinking and encouraged students to integrate free play opportunities and outdoor-educational activities into their master plan concepts and individual design proposals.
